Governors’ Information and Duties

Releasing Potential School is overseen by the Releasing Potential Board of Trustees. An Education Sub-committee scrutinizes data on academic progress and progress in relation to, for example, attendance, engagement and behaviour, and feeds this back to the full Board. Sub-committee members meet termly with the Head of School to discuss reports on various aspects of progress; the full Board of Trustees meets quarterly. All of our Trustees and committee members bring  talent, experience,  energy and commitment to the work, we are very fortunate and very grateful to have their services.

Releasing Potential Trustees

Paul Suter, Chair of Releasing Potential Trustees

Paul is a Chartered Accountant who is Chief Finance Director for a business with a turnover of £600 million. Paul’s expertise in business has helped the charity grow, and ensures that financial due diligence is carried out across the School and all aspects of Releasing Potential.

Sheila Roberts, Releasing Potential Trustee

Sheila is a former Magistrate and current member of the Youth Justice Board in West Sussex. Sheila has many years’ experience in working with vulnerable young people, and with a range of charitable organisations. Sheila brings this wealth of knowledge and wisdom to the Board of Trustees.

Kate Palmer, Releasing Potential Trustee

Kate is a qualified social worker who has worked with children and families in West Sussex for a number of years. Kate’s professional background brings to the Board an understanding of the experiences of young people we work with which can be invaluable.

Elise Eminson, Releasing Potential Trustee and Education Sub-committee member

Elise is a qualified teacher with an MEd; she is currently working on her doctoral thesis in the importance of oracy in teaching and learning.

Joanna King, Education Sub-committee member

Jo is a qualified teacher and local vicar who co-founded Releasing Potential in 2001. Jo has generously agreed to return in an advisory capacity as part of the Education Sub-committee. Jo’s long experience in SEN, in education generally, and in Releasing Potential specifically, brings a uniquely well-informed perspective to the role.

Nick Sharp, Education Sub-committee member

Nick is the Head Teacher of a local primary school, who brings to the Releasing Potential School  all of his experience and expertise in improving standards of education across all aspects of teaching and learning.
